M18 O2 Bung Copper Chill Block – Tellurium Copper Heat Sink for Precision Welding

Building on the proven performance of our universal V-band flange chill blocks, the M18 O2 Bung Copper Chill Block is engineered to provide the same level of heat control, stability, and purge management for oxygen sensor bung welding. Manufactured from a high-tech Tellurium Copper alloy, this chill block delivers exceptional durability, oxidation resistance, and thermal performance in high-heat TIG welding environments.

Designed to withstand extreme welding temperatures, the M18 O2 Bung Chill Block rapidly pulls heat away from the bung and surrounding material, preventing warpage, thread distortion, and overheating of this precision-machined component. By efficiently transferring heat out of the weld zone, it helps maintain proper thread geometry and alignment. Critical for sensor fitment, serviceability and long-term reliability.

Tellurium Copper offers a significant advantage over aluminum alternatives, providing approximately 40% higher thermal and electrical conductivity. Combined with its increased mass, this chill block acts as a true heat sink. Copper heat sinks are approximately 70% heavier than an identical aluminum part, allowing for stable positioning, improved work holding, and consistent results during welding.

Integrated hex-shaped heat dissipation fins increase surface area, allowing heat to be shed quickly and efficiently. This results in faster cooldown times, making the M18 O2 Bung Chill Block ideal for production welding environments where repeatability and cycle time matter.

Each M18 O2 Bung Chill Block includes a machined built-in 4-way argon diffuser designed to eliminate purge gas turbulence while maximizing argon efficiency. This diffuser promotes laminar argon flow inside the tube or pipe, improving internal weld quality and reducing oxidation during the bung welding process.

To support flexible setup options, the chill block includes both a 1/8" NPT barb fitting and plug, allowing the fabricator to choose between active purge-through capability or a fully sealed configuration. A titanium O2 bung plug is also included to cap and seal any additional open O2 ports during welding, preventing contamination and maintaining a controlled purge environment.
